Vacation for my ass!

Vacation for my ass!

So, no miles at all done this week, with the old Java Green Machine staying with Si and Martin of Brookside. Quite a bit more work going on at the moment, Si reports:

“We have readjusted the front suspension, soundproofed the floor and refitted all carpets. Also repaired the headliner around the rear window. Washers fixed and headlamp flasher sorted. Passenger window now opens correctly. £145 for that lot mate”

£145? Not a bad do all that. Don’t tell ’em but I’d have paid more than double that! The BRMs finally fit and I can turn the wheel! Exciting times. But more are on the way courtesy of Dave in Buckingham, who happened to have a pair of light grey leather seats in a Porsche 911 he no longer needed… so £270 delivered and they’re winging their way over as I type!

Still on the list for Brookside VW Aircooled in Hopwood:

  • Rear suspension. The car sits too high on the nearside rear. Work on stance anyway.
  • Fit those seats! With no heaters, a heated seat could be the difference between life and death!
  • Rear seat belts – since the wife and kids need them even if I don’t.
  • New door cards for the front. Oh to be able to save the original trim, it’s just falling apart
  • Quarter lights
  • Interior light keeps falling down. Driving me mad.

To be honest, I’d settle for the seats being fitted and getting the car back. Come on P4D!

And permission granted for that camper! Extremely excited. With a new arrival due in the autumn it might be something for next year, but still… wicked prospect to have a turnkey holiday machine sat outside ready to go!
